GTAccess became a member of the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chambers of Commerce in 2015, and at that time had never put the business forward for any awards. However, all that changed this year when GTAccess decided to enter the GTA Secure™ system into the “Excellence in Innovation” category of the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce Business Awards 2017.

Jo Till, Director at GTAccess, said: “It was after a chance conversation with Emma Chetwynd Jarvis of Rock Power Connections Ltd, a previous winner at the awards, who explained the process and potential benefits of entering, that I started to think that this is something we should do as you have to be in it to win it.”
The job of completing the application fell to Justin Kite, the GTAccess Marketing Manager, who commented: “At first, the idea of putting ourselves forward for an award such as this seemed a little daunting, and to put it bluntly a lot of work when you already have a day job. But actually the process was fairly straight forward, it really comes down to just sharing the excitement and enthusiasm that you have for your product and doing so in a way that people can understand.”
Once GTAccess had been shortlisted for the awards, it was time for the telephone interview. Justin continued: “Not knowing what to expect, we were a little nervous at the beginning of the telephone interview, but once we started talking about the GTA Secure system, something we are extremely proud of, it was amazing how quickly the interview went.”
GTA Secure was launched in January 2016 and is now installed and available on over half of the GTAccess fleet of powered access machines. The GTA Secure system offers GTAccess customers features such as tracking, geo-fencing and access control. It provides real-time monitoring of machine location and status including start time, finish time, and usage. The system also improves safety by only allowing access to individuals that are fully trained and authorised to use the equipment with access securely controlled by either a unique pin code or a SmartID card.
Upon winning the award for the GTA Secure system, Jonathan Till, GTAccess Managing Director, said: “Winning the “Excellence in Innovation” Award was a highlight of the year for me, it gave real recognition to our employees for all the hard work they had shown in bringing GTA Secure to the market. I would encourage companies of all sizes and industries to enter these awards. If you have something you’re passionate about, something you believe has made a real impact in the market then share that experience by entering and like us you might be surprised and win!”
GTAccess plan to continue investing in the future of its GTA Secure system by making the management and reporting accessible to its customers directly through a mobile app. GTAccess also plan on putting itself forward for more awards in the future, and would definitely recommend that others do so as well. As Jo Till stated, “you have to be in it to win it!”
