Date: 08/09/2017

By definition, CSR is Corporate Social Responsibility - however pin-pointing what this specifically means is far and vast.

The role of CSR will change from business to business, but ultimately it is the approach that contributes to sustainable development by delivering social, environmental and economic benefits for employees and an organisation’s stakeholders.
Worcestershire Works Well is a health and wellbeing scheme organised through a partnership incorporating Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, Worcestershire County Council, Worcestershire Regulatory Services, Wellness Works and the Sports Partnership.
The accreditation scheme supports businesses to improve the health and wellbeing of their employees.
Improved employee wellbeing has been shown repeatedly to improve profitability and productivity of businesses.

Adults spend a considerable proportion of their day-to-day lives in the workplace, and employers can play a vital role in improving the health of the work force. From workplace health promotion to raising awareness of physical and mental health issues, the Worcestershire Works Well scheme will help employees in making healthier lifestyle choices.

Dawn Hardman wrote, in her blog in July, that we are consistently hearing about the current skills shortage which seems to be one of the key challenges businesses are facing.

Anything that an employer can do to enhance its brand to become an employer of choice is key to a business’ sustainability. An initiative, like Worcestershire Works Well, indicates to prospective candidates that they will be valued and supported in the workplace.

Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce is a finalist in the World Chamber Competition for Best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Project for Worcestershire Works Well, competing against Chambers from around the globe.

The Chamber is incredibly proud to be representing Worcestershire on an international level, especially for such a fantastic CSR scheme. The winners of each of the four categories will be announced at a Congress Gala Dinner on Thursday 21 September, held in Sydney, Australia.

Fingers crossed for Worcestershire Works Well!
