Free skills training for employees in Worcestershire

The Warwickshire College Group (WCG) are offering free skills training for over 50’s working in Worcestershire. The Train 4 Success (T4S) programme aims to retrain or upskill people, supporting their personal development and benefitting their company. Eligible companies must have no more than 250 employees and turnover less than £50m. The courses are run throughout the county, at WCG college locations, and cover a range of subjects from accountancy, IT & computing to land-based courses such as construction, engineering and agriculture.

Between 1999 and 2019, the average age of someone leaving the labour market increased from 61.7 years to 64.7 years. As people are retiring later it is vital the potential of more experienced workers is tapped into. And this is more important than ever as companies continue to face skills shortages. On average, during 2019, 58% of Herefordshire and Worcestershire companies that attempted to recruit reported difficulties recruiting the right people.
