Free Energy, waste assessments and supporting grants for Herefordshire Businesses
Coventry University is managing the Smarter Working West Midlands programme which is part funded by the European Union and is offering free energy efficiency and waste solution assessments to Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Herefordshire. This includes an on-site survey and report with recommendations for change. The Smarter Working programme has engaged two specialist companies to provide the services:
Briar Associates – Where the focus is on ways to save energy and cost in buildings
Organic Resource Agency LTD (ORA) – For organisations looking to improve use of materials and organic waste
Telephone: 02476 158206
Are you eligible?
To qualify for assistance your business must be an SME under EU criteria:
Employ < 250 people
Have a turnover of < €50 million or a balance sheet of €43 million
Some industries, including agriculture are not eligible and there may be additional criteria which apply. Please contact the Smarter Working West Midlands programme to clarify eligibility.
In addition, companies wishing to implement the recommendations by purchasing new plant or equipment may be eligible for a grant to subsidise part of the investment by contacting Herefordshire Council.
The grant comes as part of the Shropshire and Herefordshire Business Enterprise Fund. The maximum grant is £5k with the SME providing at least an equal amount. The grant requires a separate application and is awarded on a competitive basis. SMEs will need to demonstrate significant cost reductions as a result of the initiative.
