PLACEMENTS AT CAPLOR ENERGY

Home / News & Opportunities

Date: 20/09/2016

Earlier this year I completed a work placement at Caplor Energy as part of my University studies. I could not speak highly enough of the company after my first stay, so jumped at the opportunity when I was offered the chance to work here over the summer before going back to complete my final year at University.

Earlier this year I completed a work placement at Caplor Energy as part of my University studies. I could not speak highly enough of the company after my first stay, so jumped at the opportunity when I was offered the chance to work here over the summer before going back to complete my final year at University.

Whilst here I am conducting my dissertation research looking into UK Businesses Perceptions of Renewable Energy and generally helping out in the office as much as I can.  What has been great so far is how involved with the company I have been. Unlike usual work placements, here at Caplor I feel like a member of the team contributing to the daily running of the company with my ideas and suggestion being treated as if I were a full time employee who had been here for years.

In-between dissertation research I have been looking into the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility and generally learning about products in the renewable sector, amongst other things. What has been interesting is finding out how a company who value them self’s on running their business sustainably and so actively show their environmental awareness to the customer, go about their daily work. Whether this be the vast array of Solar Panels on site or the little things like the dedication shown to recycling.

The most beneficial part of my placement so far has been the amount of independent tasks I have been given. There is a trust from the company that I can go away and carry out my work for them without the guidance of staff members or people constantly looking over my shoulder. This has allowed me to get fully engaged in all the tasks set and feel like I am actually doing something useful for the company and not here hindering them. Of course it’s not all fun and games on my placement, I do have to do my fair share of filing!

Due to the friendly nature of all of the staff, if I do get stuck or need further guidance, I don’t hesitate to ask as everyone is approachable and more than happy to lend a hand. This friendly nature extends outside of just work with the social gatherings that I have been invited too, from the staff BBQ to bowling.

If working in the solar industry is something that you are considering, or you would just like to experience a business environment where sustainable practises are key to the heart of the company then I would suggest applying for a work placement here at Caplor.  The staff have been friendly since day one and don’t treat you like and intern but a member of the Caplor Team.  Whether this be a week placement or a year in industry during your University Studies I could not recommend enough that you come and experience working at Caplor Energy.
