Worcester-based SW&A Accountants are celebrating their 15th year in operation by making a continued commitment to provide outstanding service to clients across a wide range of sectors.

Founded by managing director Neil Sysum and his mother Pauline, the company started life as Three Counties Payroll back in 2002 and grew rapidly through word of mouth referrals and networking.
For many years there has been a clear distinction between the skillset involved in payroll and those used in accountancy. Neil and the team have grown and developed with the changes in operation and legislation over the years now that the gap in those skills is so vast.
Three Counties Payroll has long prided itself on championing contracts and services with other accountancy practices, schools, pub companies, councils and a host of business sectors.
“We provided a specialist service to employers who were struggling to manage their payroll but couldn’t afford to get it wrong – no matter what happens in your business staff always need to be paid,” said Neil.
After opening a second office in Worcester alongside his original base in Gloucester in 2007, Neil decided to branch out into the licensed trade market with the NRS brand and has since played a major role in the launch of the Association of Licensed Trade Accountants (ALTA).
The company is also a recommended supplier to EiGroup, Punch Taverns, Spirit Group and most recently Marstons due to its specialist skills and the way in which it operates with their clients to ensure they get the best from their respective businesses.
“When you have contracts with pub companies, you’ve got to be hands-on and work geographically, which is why the spirit of collaboration encouraged by ALTA is so important,” said Neil.
Now based at Ball Mill Top Business Park near Hallow, SW&A boast a ten-strong team offering a range of services from basic bookkeeping to advanced accountancy and taxation.
Neil said: “Over the past 15 years, much has changed in the way of technology but one thing has remained the same - this business is all about people and has a massive customer facing element. We love speaking to our clients on the phone and them dropping in to see us.”
SW&A Accountants are proud to be recognised as member of the month for May 2017 by the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce.
Neil said: “We have received recognition for the work we do; the great things our clients say about us and what we contribute to the community in charitable work over our years in business. We still very much enjoy what we do and the way that we do it and a big thank you must go to the suppliers and customers that have worked with us, and continue to work with us over the years.”
The company’s future plans include continued growth and acquisitions and developing its successful apprenticeship programme.
In the short term, SW&A Accountants are continuing their policy of giving back to the community whenever possible. A great example of this is their upcoming event where they are teaming up with CitySigns to organise a golf day in aid of the MS Society at Ravenmeadow Golf Club on July 7.
