Organisers of the popular Pound The Bounds walks in Rock near Kidderminster, have announced the 2017 event will take place Sunday 30th April, and are encouraging walkers of all levels to pop the date in the diary.
“Pound The Bounds has become a very well attended day out and as interest in next year’s event is already growing, we were keen to announce the date before the new year,” said event organiser, Sue Humphries.
Now in its 17th
year, Pound The Bounds is organised by the Rock Pathfinders committee alongside the team at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity. The event attracts over 500 avid walkers, trail runners, groups and families. As well as a great day out, profits from the day are donated to the vitally important lifesaving Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.
Last year the event raised £7,200 for the organisation, demonstrating that as well as a much-anticipated day out for walkers, Rock Pound The Bounds is an extremely important event in the charity’s fundraising calendar.
Michelle McCracken, fundraising manager for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, added: “As well as attending some of the most traumatic and life-threatening incidents across the region, we also airlift patients from remote parts of the countryside where land ambulances just can’t reach. As a proportion of the air ambulance missions undertaken by the service include walkers, Rock Pound the Bounds is an excellent way for the public to demonstrate their support.”
Starting off from Rock Village Hall, participants can take advantage of a number of walks on the day, including a marathon (26.2 miles), 18, half marathon (13.5 miles), nine or six mile walk, and a three mile treasure trail is on offer for those with young families.
