ON YER BIKE FOR MNDA

Home / News & Opportunities / Member News

Date: 05/07/2017

South West based training company SSG Training and Consultancy raised over £400 from their charity bike ride in aid of the MND Association.

Using training bikes with attached turbo trainers, the team collectively cycled 231 miles from their head office in Plymouth to the MND Association’s head office in Northampton.

Throughout Wednesday 22 June, also Global MND Awareness Day, team members took it in turns to cycle in timed sessions from 08:30 until 16:00. Despite the heat, they completed the cycle with 25 minutes to spare.

Bikes and turbo trainers were provided by members of the team, with other equipment including floor fans and another turbo trainer from Velo-Smith.

SSG Training and Consultancy chose the MND Association as their charity for 2017. Including a quiz night in March, the team have raised hundreds of pounds from events throughout the year and still have numerous fundraising activities planned for the remainder of the year.

The MND Association focuses on improving care and support for those suffering from MND and their families, campaigning to raise awareness of MND and funding and promoting ongoing research to one day find a cure for MND.

Mel Standlick, marketing team leader and event organiser, said of the day, “The cycle was a great success – everyone came together to support each other and we smashed our target.  The atmosphere was amazing and you could really sense the importance of what we were achieving and why we were doing this resonating with everybody in the team. We’d like to say a huge thank you to all those who organised, participated, donated and supported our cycle ride; both team members, family and Velo-Smith!”
