NEW CHAMBER PRESIDENT

Home / News & Opportunities / Member News

Date: 02/10/2014

Jim McBride, Director of Henley Business Group, has been President of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce for the past two years and is now stepping down from the role, to make way for new President, Stuart Speight, Director of IE Developments.

Jim has had a successful two years as President, he represented the Chamber at the British Chambers of Commerce Awards, where the Chamber was crowned 'Chamber of the Year 2013', and has helped to maintain the Chamber's ability to focus on key areas and take difficult decisions to ensure that these areas are delivered.

Jim McBride said: "Every organisation needs change to go forward.  The principle of changing Presidents every two years is correct as we will each bring our own personality to the job.  Stuart has a wealth of experience in the construction world especially associated with eco projects. Going forward the message is to never let up on the accelerator pedal!  If you're not going forward then backwards it is and the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber deserves to be at the top of the pile."

By alternating between having a Worcestershire based President and a Herefordshire one, the aim is to maintain an equal representation of the two counties. The next President to step into the role is Herefordshire based Stuart Speight, Director of IE Developments.

Stuart said: "Having a hands on approach with the local business community, being a Director of a local business myself, gives me the insights to know what our members need.  Hopefully bringing my years of experience within the construction sector to the Chamber and helping to improve education and training within this most important sector. Personally, I would like to see Herefordshire playing a greater role in the Chamber, to lift it's profile and see more local events for each sector, I know I share this goal with CEO, Mike Ashton."
