Worcestershire’s legal stars have been lining up for the county’s prestigious awards at Worcestershire Law Society’s (WLS) annual awards dinner at Stanbrook Abbey, near Worcester on 7 April 2017.
Taking home the title of Solicitor of the Year was Clare Emery, from Harrison Clark Rickerbys (HCR), and Hailey Nip, also from HCR, received the award for Junior Solicitor of the Year (up to 5 years qualified).
The team from MFG won this year’s Employment Law Department of the Year, with Sarah Jayne Martin from HCR winning Trainee Solicitor of the Year. James Sommerville from Thomas Horton was also recognised for his service to the Society, as a committee member for more than 20 years, with a special award.
Administrative and support staff were recognised as well, in a variety of roles within the legal profession - Aimee Williams from Thursfields won the office manager award, Nysha Dowling from Hallmark Hulme won the administration award and the paralegal award went to Patricia Marleau from HCR .
Lord Digby Jones was the guest speaker for the evening, himself a former solicitor, and he was joined by Master of Ceremonies Hursty (of Hursty and Helen in the morning) from Free Radio’s morning show.
Priya Tromans, President of the Worcestershire Law Society, said: “It was a really enjoyable event –Stanbrook Abbey is a fabulous setting - and we were delighted to be celebrating such an array of legal talent from all over the county. Lord Jones is an excellent raconteur, so we were very well entertained, and our sponsors, who donated fabulous raffle prizes, were very generous – we very much appreciate their support.”
