HOSPICE SEEKS SUPERHEROES FOR CORPORATE SUPPORT

Home / News & Opportunities / Member News

Date: 16/11/2016

A Worcestershire Hospice which supports more than 2,500 patients and their loved ones in the county each year – is seeking ‘superheroes’ to leap into action as corporate partners.

The hospice fundraising team wants to encourage firms to come forward and work with St Richard’s in partnership as their chosen Charity of the Year.

St Richard’s provides free, expert care to adults living with life-limiting illness and offer support to their families in Worcestershire.  The hospice needs to raise £8.2m a year to run all its services and relies on donations for 75% of their income.

St Richard’s Fundraising Manager, Rachel Jones explained, “Our care is free to patients and their loved ones but costs to provide. Those who help us raise funds to continue our care are ‘superheroes’ in our eyes as they often go to great lengths to make a difference to people when they most need it.”

She added, “Whether making a straight forward donation, sponsoring an event; taking on a team-building challenge, attending an event, completing a volunteering project or choosing St Richard’s as the Charity of the Year – we can work with firms all the way to ensure success for all involved.”  She added, “We always have a lot of fun along the way too!”

St Richard’s Hospice provides free specialist palliative care for patients living with life-limiting illnesses and supports their families. Each year the hospice team supports over 2,500 patients and family members in Worcestershire with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect.

Patients are cared for in Day Hospice, the 17-bed In-patient Unit or in their own homes by a specialist professional team as well as many trained volunteers.

In the In-patient Unit, specialist staff are on hand 24 hours a day to manage patients’ symptoms and where, if appropriate, patients may spend the last few days of life in comfort and dignity. St Richard’s is an independent charity and is grateful for all donations to help it to continue its work.
