Clubs across Britain have celebrated the pivotal role they play in the community, and for their ability to provide a safe and convivial environment in which to socialise.
Club Mirror Magazine who own and organise the Club Mirror Awards, have been an integral part of the club industry for over 48 years. The Awards are now in their 25th year.
Head of Judges Caroline Scoular, said ‘Against a backdrop of cheap supermarket drink, local pub closures and harsh trading conditions, clubs across the country have worked incredibly hard this year to constantly improve and provide a great offer for members.
‘Many are key in championing their sports activities, encouraging members young and old to participate – whether playing or watching. Others have focused on their entertainment programmes, enhancing their catering operations, refurbishing the club and facilities and keeping perfectly served drinks at sensible prices despite rising costs.’
One of our local Hereford golf clubs Burghill Valley were honoured at the awards this year and were shortlisted in 3 categories. Best Caterer of the year, Best Golf Club of the Year and Most Innovative Club of the Year.
Burghill Valley actually won overall in the Most Innovative Club category. Their awareness of a changing market, the need to evolve with regards to IT and systems, enhancing our catering offering, refurbishing the bar/restaurant, and this Winter they will be refurbishing the changing rooms. Being sharper on branding, having a more relaxed attitude to course dress and the use of mobile phones have all contributed to their success, together with having a forward thinking management team.
