Home / News & Opportunities / Chamber News

Date: 12/09/2017

Representatives from Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce will soon be travelling to Sydney, Australia to take part in a three day programme ahead of the World Chambers Competition.

Sharon Smith, Chief Executive, Jim McBride, Chairman, Dawn Hardman, Director of HR and Abigail Robbins, HR Assistant, are representing Worcestershire on an international level, after the Chamber was selected as a finalist in Best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Project in the competition.

The World Chambers Competition, organised by the ICC World Chambers Federation (WCF), is the only global awards programme to recognise projects developed by Chambers of Commerce and the industry worldwide.

Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce will be competing against Chambers from Brazil, Iran and India. The Chamber has been recognised for Worcestershire Works Well, a health and wellbeing accreditation scheme that supports local businesses in workplace health promotion, raising awareness of particular health issues and supporting employees to make healthier lifestyle choices.

An official opening ceremony will signal the start of the 10th World Chambers Competition, where Chamber representatives will take part in a Congress Gala Dinner held at the International Convention Centre Sydney. After delivering a presentation to delegates, the Chamber representatives will be treated to a delicious three course meal before the winners of the four categories are announced.

Sharon Smith, Chief Executive at the Chamber, said: “The Chamber’s partnership with the Worcestershire County Council Public Health, Community First, Sports Partnership Herefordshire & Worcestershire and Worcestershire Regulatory Services for Worcestershire Works Well has allowed us to work with 97 active companies and impacts over 28,000 employees, by encouraging and supporting lifestyle changes.

“We are excited to represent Worcestershire on an international level, and will keep our fingers crossed for a win for truly a fantastic scheme.”

The Chamber is looking forward to hearing the announcements of the winners, and will keep Members, and the wider business community, updated of our progress on Twitter at @HW_Chamber and on our website at www.hwchamber.co.uk
