The Chamber’s Policy team have been busy consulting with businesses in the two counties in order to submit to the government’s industrial strategy.
The industrial strategy aims to address long-term challenges to the UK economy; to improve living standards and economic growth by increasing productivity and driving growth across the whole country. The strategy is currently in consultation and businesses of every size and from every sector of industry are able to respond.
Sophia Haywood, Policy Manager at Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, said:
“As soon as the consultation opened my biggest priority was to make sure both Herefordshire and Worcestershire were equally represented in the Industrial Strategy process with our unique labour market, vital infrastructure needs and innovative business community, which has lots of opportunity for growth.
In the green paper, there is a lot of emphasis on ‘place’. Here at the Chamber we want to make sure that ‘place’ means counties, not just regions like the Midlands or the Marches – that way we can make sure that our local areas are really supported to grow.”
