6 YEARS OF SUCCESS FOR LOCAL FIRM AT PRESTIGIOUS NATIONAL AWARDS

Home / News & Opportunities

Date: 12/07/2017

McCarthy Taylor, a local Worcestershire based firm, were this week announced as finalists at the prestigious national Moneyfacts “Investment Life & Pensions” Awards for the 6th year running.

McCarthy Taylor, a local Worcestershire based firm, were this week announced as finalists at the prestigious national Moneyfacts “Investment Life & Pensions” Awards for the 6th year running. The leading independent financial advice firm has once again been selected in 2 award categories, having consistently been named as both winners and finalists throughout the last half decade.

The long running and independently judged awards aim to recognise the very best companies from across the nation, and to highlight their excellent advice and outstanding customer service. In 2017 McCarthy Taylor have been acknowledged in the categories of “Tax & Estate Planner of the Year” and “Protection Adviser of the Year”.

Speaking after the announcement Paul Taylor, CEO of McCarthy Taylor, said “We’re absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted again for 2 of these national awards. Compared with some of the behemoths in the industry McCarthy Taylor is a relatively small team of 30 highly qualified and experienced people, and these awards recognise the fact we deliver the very best advice and investment services for clients”.

Mr Taylor went on to say “McCarthy Taylor is about to celebrate our 20th anniversary, and throughout that time we have focused on providing independent, trusted advice to our clients with clear pre-agreed fees for that advice. So many of our industry’s well publicised problems stem from a culture of selling products, often involving high levels of commission and opaque or impenetrable charging structures, instead of firms simply providing high quality professional advice that is right for each individual. Sadly we still regularly see such poor practices, indeed the financial regulator (the FCA) has just announced that further measures are needed to force many firms to make their investment charges clear”.

Organisations such as Moneyfacts, with their rigorous judging and independent awards, help people to identify firms who are delivering the very best advice and services in a fair and transparent way. As Kathryn Field, Chief Investment Officer at McCarthy Taylor, explained “annual ongoing fees are necessary to pay for active investment management, with the proviso that these fees are clear, appropriate and easy to understand. However there’s no acceptable reason in this day and age for clients to be charged a percentage fee on initial investments. It results in people losing anywhere between 2 and 5 percent before they’ve even started. Instead, we charge a simple fixed fee, to the significant benefit of our clients”.

It’s been quite a year so far for McCarthy Taylor, in May they opened a new Cheltenham office, and in June received further accolades after winning the “Highly Commended” award for “Best Corporate Pensions Advice Firm of the Year” at the national Retirement Planner Awards 2017 in London.
